Elders

Grace Fellowship Church recognizes that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and leads His church through a plurality of leaders.

Our church is led by a plurality of qualified elders (Titus 1:5, 1 Timothy 3:1-7). It is not the task of the elders to lead the church themselves, but to determine how the Lord wishes to lead His church through them.

Bobby ReynoldsTeaching Pastor & Elder bobby@gracekingsport.org Participating in the adventure of starting Grace Fellowship Church has been an exciting ride for me and my family. From the word go, this endeavor was launched to reach Kingsport and beyond with the life-changing love of Jesus and I count it an awesome privilege to serve along-side of this group of believers as lead pastor. We’re all excited about what God has in store for this church in the years to come. My wife Rebecca and I are originally from Kentucky. My ministry experience includes serving on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, and also working as an associate pastor while attending Dallas Theological Seminary. After I graduated from seminary with a Master of Theology degree, we moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, to participate in a church-planting residency sponsored by Fellowship Bible Church.

I’ve been married to my phenomenal wife for over twelve years now and we have two swell kids who share our love for fun, adventure, and creating things. I also enjoy good books with strong coffee, games, movies, nature, and great friends.

I have known Jesus Christ since I was 10. I came to Kingsport and began employment with Eastman in 1984. My wife, Dawn, is the connections coordinator for Grace Fellowship. We have two sons, Paul and Brian. Charter members of the church, we have actively supported the vision of Grace Fellowship Kingsport since it began. I am passionate about growth of individuals through one of the church's core ministries: Community Groups, and have coached small group leaders and led a small group. My sons and I have served on Movers and Shakers, setting up and tearing down for the worship service, and our whole family has enjoyed helping lead worship. One of my favorite activities is to paddle a canoe down the Clinch river and camp for a night on the river bank. Becoming an elder with Grace Fellowship, Kingsport is an opportunity to take the next step in seeking and acting upon God's purpose for this body. I am looking forward to seeing God move through His church.

I am a salesman with Merck & Co.,Inc. and have lived in Kingsport since 1999. I am married to Laura Anne and we have 4 children, Michael, Rachel, Ashley, and Craig. I became a Christ Follower at the age of 12 and have been a charter member of GFC-Kingsport. I have served in the past as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher and most recently as the book-keeper at GFC. I enjoy watching our kids participate in school activities, running with my wife, and tinkering with my 1968 Chevy Camaro. I look forward to working with the other elders as we continue to search for ways to build a community to reach a community for Christ.

I am a retired U.S. postal Inspector who has worked for several years as a fraud investigator at Citibank.  He and his wife, Ruth, moved to Kingsport from California in 2004.  They have two adult children: Kevin in Denver, CO and Steve Jr. in Richmond, VA.  Steve Jr. is married to Alexis and they have one son, Owen.

Steve became a Christian at age 8 while attending a neighborhood Good News Club.  Several evangelistic experiences in high school helped solidify Steve’s beliefs.

Steve & Ruth serve the Grace Fellowship body by facilitating Financial Peace University and Discovery.  Steve also coordinates the Usher and Front Door Host program and Ruth serves at the Welcome Center.  Both Steve and Ruth have taught teen and adult classes at other churches.

When Steve is not working, he enjoys gardening and spending time with his children & grandson.  Steve looks forward to continuing to work with the GFC team to build up and edify others in Christ.

Tim Upshaw

Tim is a chemical engineer at Eastman Chemical Company.  He is married to Claire and has three children Julie, Bryan, and Amy as well as a new son-in-law, Aaron Hanks.

Tim has been at GFC Kingsport for almost 4 years, having worshipped at GFC Johnson City prior to that.  Tim accepted Christ when he was 18 years old, but was raised in the church from his earliest recollection.  During his time as a Christian, Tim has taught Sunday School, led small groups, and has helped out in ushering.

Outside of church, Tim is involved in the CAPS ministry and is on the BOD for FISH, a small ministry in Nicaragua.  For fun, Tim likes to go on walks with Claire, watch Bryan’s tennis matches and occasionally hit some tennis himself.  Also, he enjoys going to see UK basketball games.  Tim looks forward to serving the Lord and the body as well as growing spiritually himself as he works with the elders.
