Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of a church are you?
There are many different kinds of churches. Some are known for their political involvement, their facility, or even the personalities of their leaders.

Every church must have a clear understanding of who they are and what their unique role is. Every person in the church should understand and be committed to that mission.
Our mission is Building a Community to Reach a Community. We will do this by equipping you to be a spiritually vital, biblically grounded, relationally healthy, personally generous, socially responsible, and evangelistically bold disciple of Jesus Christ. In short, we want to be an equipping church.
Who leads the church?
Grace Fellowship Church recognizes that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and leads His church through a plurality of leaders.
Our church is led by a plurality of qualified elders (Titus 1:5, 1 Timothy 3:1-7). It is not the task of the elders to lead the church themselves, but to determine how the Lord wishes to lead His church through them.
Our staff team is just that: a team. Each team member has a specific and distinctive role to play. Based upon gifting, calling, experience, capacity and skills, staff members work to "equip the saints for the work of ministry." (Ephesians 4:12).
What are your Sunday morning services like?
The privilege of corporate worship is an opportunity for the body of Christ to celebrate a unique closeness to our Lord. Our goal in worship is to draw attention to God, not the individuals who may sing, perform, or teach. Therefore, we approach all forms of worship with prayerful humility and joyful reverence for our great Lord.
Biblical teaching, prayer, and musical praise are the primary elements of our Sunday morning worship services. Through teaching, we learn to accurately interpret and apply God's Word to our daily lives. Through music, we praise God in a manner that is both respectful and vibrant. Through prayer, we express our love for and dependence upon our Heavenly Father.

Does your church have small groups?
Yes! Since we believe that a biblical community is vital for real life change, small groups are a core ministry of our church. As you explore and experience this biblical community, our desire is that you would pursue holistic growth in becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. That is, we hope to develop heads (our ideas and beliefs), hearts (our attitudes), and hands (our skills). In short, our small groups are designed to help you personally live out our mission: "Building a Community to Reach a Community." That's why we call our small groups "Community Groups".
In your Community Group, you'll study what it means to be a spiritually vital, biblically grounded, relationally healthy, personally generous, socially responsible, and evangelistically bold disciple of Jesus Christ. You'll also care for other members of the group as they care for you. Finally, as a group, you'll give grace to those who need it. Some groups will reach the poor, sick, and spiritually needy in our area. Other groups might help reach those in our church that are in need. If you would like to join a Community Group, contact us to learn how.
How family-friendly is your church?
We believe that whether you are a son, daughter, husband, wife, parent, grandparent, widow or whatever – you’re called to minister to your family! And helping you help your family is one of Grace Fellowship Church Kingsport's highest objectives.

We seek to provide family-building, discipleship-focused, and relationship-oriented ministries that seek to equip you to have an irresistible influence on your family. Here’s are some examples of how we strive to do just that:
For the children (birth to 5th grade) we have “Kids Community” on Sunday morning. For the very young, we provide nursery and preschool classes that are lovingly-staffed and carefully-secure. Each little one will benefit from age appropriate stories, songs, and activities that will begin to help you direct your young child’s thoughts toward their heavenly Father.
For elementary age kids, every child receives special, age-appropriate attention by adults dedicated to caring and sharing the good news of God’s love. Our interactive curriculum seeks to be age appropriate, creative and relevant to today’s kids; but most importantly of all it will be biblically grounded. We hope to strive to give you needed tools to keep this ministry to your child going during the week.
For middle and high school students, we seek biblically challenge them to take the next spiritual step in their walk with Christ. Our student ministry is run by relevant and loving adults who simply have a passion for relational discipleship.
No matter your age, ministry to your family is often the hardest thing to do. Therefore, we will seek to equip you with recommended books, seminars and relationships that help you no matter what is your age or stage of life.

Are you a charismatic church?
While Grace Kingsport is not a charismatic church, and respectfully differs with many charismatics in a number of areas, there are many more areas in which we agree. Most charismatics would agree with us on the fundamentals of the faith and we thankfully join with them in worshipping the same Lord.
